Too much information in the information age
It’s summer, but I still feel like I have a lot on my plate. I have an unlimited amount of work-work to do, I have classical bass lessons to practice, I have Lake Folk repertoire to practice, my summer reading list is growing everyday and now includes Infinite Jest, which totals 1079 pages and contains numerous lengthy sentences of the sort that when you finish a sentence, it is likely that you forgot how the sentence started or the subject and of course, constantly updating my blog. Also, I’ve taken to sleeping and exercising more. I’ve got to make up time somehow so I’ve decided that I am going to spend significantly less time (close to zero) on instant messengers. I am typically logged into an instant messenger anytime that my laptop is open, whether I’m using it. I’ve become a slave to the chime of a new message and it distracts me a lot during work and while I’m practicing. So, if you simply must send me links and constant life updates, do send them in a daily digest and I will respond all at once. Also, if you catch me sending messages midday feel free to give me a hard time about it.
