Sirius: Best customer service eva

Last summer I bought the Stiletto II satellite radio receiver because I was doing some super tedious lab work and my iPod is broken.  I really liked the service and the channels, in fact, I’d say I loved them.  The only reason that I use a $30 radio receiver today and not my Sirius player is that the receiver sucked and I couldn’t get good reception indoors.  Also the battery life when using the satellite stream was terrible.  Anyway, Sirius automatically reups your subscription even if you don’t want it, which I just noticed today.  So, I called them all surly about being charged for something I don’t use anymore (by “surly” I mean slightly less polite than usual).  I called to cancel and to get a refund, but then the customer service lady offered me a FREE new radio receiver and car pack.  I asked Bryan quickly if he wanted it and he shrugged so I said “no thanks.”  Then she said “well…but you’re a valuable customer…so…how about the radio, car pack, a refund and 3 months free?  You can cancel after those 3 months if you want to, and you haven’t lost any money.”  Now, how am I going to say no to that?  Are you kidding me?  That’s probably at least $300 worth of stuff.  I, of course, say yes I will take tons of free crap.  I don’t even have a car, but I figure it’s something that mayhaps my fwiend who drives daily to Flint from Ann Arbor might want?

Anyway, the moral here is that Sirius cannot be far from going belly-up in a big way, so if you want the service now’s the time.
