I’m baaaack.
We got back to Michigan on Wednesday night and made it into Ann Arbor just in time to see our kickball team lose their second game. I think we’re going to need a training montage before next week so that we can really step it up.
I’ve posted my San Francisco and Palo Alto pictures up on my Picasa site if ya’lls are interested. I put captions on a lot of them so that I could try to preserve what I was thinking when I took the pictures. You know, I just want to give everyone the full bay area experience.
In Lake Folk news, we have TWO shows coming up. That’s right, TWO. The first is tomorrow at the Homegrown Fest in Ann Arbor. We’re playing small sets in between the acts on the main stage. The second show is at the Plymouth Coffee Bean Co again. They asked us back! That one is scheduled for October 17 and I’m hoping we can get a couple new songs into the set so that we don’t bore the sound man too much with our “greatest hits.” I know it’s just a little cafe, but I was really flattered that they asked us to come back to play again. Gotta start small. Also, we are working on producing some Lake Folk merch. We invested in a button maker and we’re pumping out cute little 1 1/4” buttons for kids to put on their backpacks. We’re hoping we can unload them and then increase traffic to our website. Speaking of our website! We bought www.lakefolkband.com and Dave has graciously offered to develop and design our site for us in exchange for beta testing his new content management setup. Right now that URL just redirects to our Myspace, but soon we should have a shiny new website. Laaastly, we are going to work hard on getting our EP all finished up by the October 17 show so that we can start sellin’ ‘em. Our plan is to take all our button/EP money and save it to buy studio time for our LP which we plan to record in January. We’re sort of hoping we can get the LP done in time to shop it around music festival organizers and maybe get some small shows in next summer.
