Charge it!

Did I mention SquareUp?  It’s one of my new favorite things.  When Lake Folk went up to Traverse City we had several people ask us if we take credit cards, and we of course didn’t.  So we lost sales because people didn’t have cash, and that sucks.  I did a little researching online and found lots of services that let you charge cards for insane monthly fees and a per purchase percentage and the cost of the card reader.  Also, all those other readers require wireless internet access, which you can’t really count on in random venues.  Enter SquareUp.  With SquareUp I can charge cards directly on my iPhone, which is always connected to the internet and they provide the compact little swiper for free with the service.  They also take a minuscule amount (15 cents plus 3 - 4%) per purchase and there aren’t any additional fees.  I’m hoping we’ll sell a lot more stuff now.  I mean, if you’re going to charge it you might as well buy three, right?
