I <3 Tattoos
I’m getting another tattoo tomorrow, because I think I’m addicted to tattoos. When I went in to the parlor to talk with the artist about my design, I realized that I’m really glad I waited until I was reasonably old to start getting tattoos. I remember a friend of mine in high school got one as soon as she turned 18, likely because she could, and I wonder if she has regrets now about her butterfly tramp stamp. The thing I like so much about tattoos is that they can be deeply personal, meaningful and beautiful and I think that if I had started getting them when I was 18 I would have more trendy, poorly placed tattoos now that I would probably grow to regret. Now that I’m old and my personality is less labile I feel pretty comfortable about the tattoos I’ve chosen and I’m not concerned that I will grow out of them.
My tattoo tomorrow will be done by a female artist, which I’m pretty excited about. I love her designs and I’m happy to support a female tattoo artist, because I think they’re pretty underrepresented.
Anyway, I’m getting an outline of my motherland, Ohio, with a male and female cardinal (the state bird) on the inside. I’ll upload some pictures after it’s moderately healed.
