Kindle

I wanna update everyone on how sweet the Kindle is.  I had reservations about it before I got it mainly from reading every discussion board and blog and tech website that had topics about the Kindle.  I’d like to say that all those reservations were totally misplaced because the device is awesome.  The screen looks amazing and is extremely easy on the eyes.  AND, there are tons of public domain books available for it, so I haven’t even paid for any of the books I’ve been reading so far.  My favorite features are:  1.  The ease with which you can change the font size.  You can make the print the size of a typical book which is pretty small, or you can make the print large enough to see from space.  I use this feature a lot when I read and walk, or read at the gym.   It’s hard to read small text when you’re bouncing (flopping) around.  Also, when I start to get sleepy I make the text bigger because I feel like it should help, but I always fall asleep anyhow.  2.  The built-in dictionary.  I’ve been using this thing like crazy because I’m reading classics and a lot of them use language and words that you don’t hear everyday.  So, if you notice an elevation in my diction, or vernacular, or lexicon, you have Kindle to thank (I talk good).  3.  The wireless network.  Sprint’s Whispernet is a little slow, but it’s fine for the Kindle.  With the built-in browser it’s easy to quickly check email and blogs when I’m too lazy to bring my laptop, or when there’s no open wifi around

In short, the Kindle rocks my world (Thanks Mamakita), and I think everyone should get one.  Amazon is apparently all caught up on their production so you won’t even have to wait 7 weeks like I did.  As a dude in a neighboring lab said yesterday “It’s like we’re living in freaking Star Trek man!”
